The lovechild of technology and mayhem!
Obama Takes it All

Well; what a historical day for African Americans in the United States of America. How many blog posts will we see about this topic? How many forum posts will go back and forth bickering back and forth about how the electoral votes and popular votes don’t match up. If you’ve lived under a rock or been snorting rocks for the past day or so – you need to be informed that the next president of our country is a black man, named Osama Bin Laden… oh, I mean Barak Obama. Seriously; will that Osama joke ever get stale?
The Immediate Reaction
It was something else seeing the reactions of all the black folks on television. CNN literally only showed black folks after they announced that Barak would be the 44th president. Their black correspondent, had the floor to himself for at least 20-30 minutes – talking jibber jabber about how he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. This is history and he will be able to tell it to his friends, as it was told to him from other people who lived through history. It was cute, but at some point I wanted to hear what the other correspondent had to say on the matter.
I may sound a bit cynical, but I’m Jamaican (American citizen though) and the history of black people in the United States really don’t hit home for me. I can surely sympathize with the struggles the black community has suffered with in the States, but it hasn’t directly affected me – to where I think the “man” is out to get me or anything like that. It was pretty funny though to see so many people jumping up and down, dancing, crying, praising God. Oh that was hilarious! Seriously; we have to have church!? Church and black folks just go together, don’t they… like Chinese food and black dogs! Well anyway, I’m done sharing my pointless thoughts on this very historical matter.
Where Were You!?
The question everyone will ask is, “Where were you on this day?” I was in my Fairburn, GA apartment with my pregnant wife watching CNN on our 30-something inch television, while my 3-year old son and 1-year old daughter slept. She wet the bed that night, by-the-way… We sat and watch, laughed and laughed at all the text messages coming in from her friends.
No matter how much I joke; I hope he’s not assassinated. African Americans would be in an uproar and the chip that’s so firmly placed on their shoulders would increase in mass – ever so quickly. Let’s keep hope alive and with that Barak Obama too, “Yes we can, America, yes we can!”
