Well, before Linux it was Windows XP. Since Linux, I'm running Fedora 10 x86_64. I use Wine primarily and have a nVidia GeForce 8600 GT card. I haven't gotten much games to work. So; for the most part I'm playing World of Warcraft. I have Battlefield 2 and Company of Heros, but I can't get those to install using Wine.

Just mentioning nVidia, I've noticed just about all my quirks with Linux come from the kmod-nvidia drivers. This nVidia chipset must be a pain to work with. Any time I disable or reinstall the drivers, my issues go away... except for 4GB of RAM I'm achieving for. Can't seem to get that working. :(

You are rightm not really a technical post, but as a regular planet.fedoraproject.org reader i like it! :-)

I just want to comment on these sentence:

"Yes, one can say that religion or a local charity or organization can help me feel a sense of higher purpose - but those “avenues” don’t really appeal to my core."

Don't underestimate the value of Free Software in a world where more and more of our live, work, education depends on software.
Working for Free Software also can and should make you feel a sense of higher purpose! You don't have to hide behind religion or a local charity organization. Be proud to work for freedom in the information society!
