Thanks for the tutorial! But there were two very important steps missing for me. Currently setting this up on Fedora 8 (I know, it’s old). Steps:

1. Copy the “conkyForecast” shell script (the one that points to the python script) to the /usr/bin directory. Without this, conky didn’t seem to be able to find the shell script and consequently threw an error and displayed nothing.

2. Copy the “fonts” directory from the /usr/share/conkyForecast/ to /usr/share/fonts/ in order to have the fonts available for conky to use. One might have to run “sudo fc-cache” to update the fonts database.

hey foo, be a man and leave your name when you say stupid stuff. I thought the idea was to get linux into the mainstream? Isn’t that what Ubuntu is doing? What’s wrong with that?

Foo: I don’t hate Ubuntu. I think they’ve done an awesome job marketing Linux. It’s because of their “over development” philosophy that Linux has gotten more exposure to the market. And because of that, Ubuntu literally is the “posterchild” for Linux.

Why don’t you package it for Fedora already?

Yes we all hate Ubuntu and their marketing-over-development philosophy but that shouldn’t prevent you from being a better man and packaging instead of whining.
