Ferg,
I wish that I had read this before your upgrade episode. I have been editing Xorg.conf by hand for years. It's came to be one of my specialties in #slackstuff. But, You've found us slackers now and the relationship is sure to grow and last :)

@Kevin, I was under the impression that I shouldn't do an upgrade. It's a piece of fud that's followed me from my Microsoft Windows "power user" days. A fresh install is always the best upgrade. Do you upgrade your distro regularly?

@Debian see... Debian, to my knowledge, is supposed to be stable as hell where as Fedora is bleeding edge so you're not guaranteed a simple "upgrade and all will be well." :)

Why didn't you just upgrade your fully-tweaked Fedora 11 instead of reinstalling?

I hear ya Paul. I'm envious of them too. I try to use the terminal more. I've noticed a transition in my FOSS-life. I first got into Linux for the "free" part of it. Now that the buzz is gone, I'm interested in all the other stuff it has to offer. Eventually; I see myself becoming more aware of the licensing issues, etc.

So; one thing I've committed to, with this latest version of Fedora is to untar my tarballs in Terminal. I've got a bunch of notes stored in GNote for general Linux commands. I'd be lost without it. Funny- every release of Fedora is my opportunity to make a New Years resolution.

Thanks for commenting, btw. It's nice to know folks are reading my entries. :)
