New Computer is Finally Up!

March 5th, 2008 by Marc F.

Man, I’ve waited almost 2 weeks since I put the computer together, but after a well waited period - my home desktop is up and running.  Right now it has Windows Vista Home Premium on there, but I plan on dual-booting it with Linux (Fedora or Umbutu).  I am totally excited!  I think because it’s dual-core, I can install programs and continue working all at the same time - what a machine!

It’s funny how I’ve changed over the years from when I first started with computers.  Back in the days I would make homebrew machines, making sure I had a lot of expansion options available.  Now; I could care less, I probably won’t use them.  I don’t even care about specs that much anymore.  It’s got a Nvidia 8600 video card (for gaming), 2GB DDR-2 RAM, 250GB hard drive, blah blah blah.  It’s sweet, that’s because it works!

My Political View

February 29th, 2008 by Marc F.

 Vote button

As of date I consider myself to be a republican.. what!?!  I know a black republican.. and I’m not even rich yet either!  I’m not really big on politics - although I’ve always wanted to be.  Sounds funny right!  I attempt to listen to NPR when driving to work and I try and catch CNN, but I really don’t.

Yesterday a family friend, Debon Jr. stopped by and we talked a bit about politics, etc.  I was also watching CNN and I realized that I don’t watch the news because we always have kiddie shows on for the children.  Alex asked a couple times to watch Thomas the Tank Engine, but I was kind of focused on watching CNN.

Well, either way - I’m going to try and keep up-to-date on what’s going on.  All my electorial life I’ve never really tried to learn the system nor understand it.  Recently; for the primaries - I was confused about my experience.  When in line I filled out the card they gave us and I marked that I was republican.  This election year I’m actually in favor for Barack Obama, but since I put down republican on my card - they only gave me republican choices.  I chose McCain, but I really wanted to vote for Obama.  Since then I’ve done a little research into understanding how our voting system works and I’ll post stuff here from time-to-time.

A Tech Retrospective

I got this article from my uncle Andrew. This article is awesome - I used to complain about how I got my first laptop for $1300 and the specs I can get now for $1100 out beat that 10 to 1. My first laptop was some where around 2001.

Prego, It’s in There!

February 19th, 2008 by Marc F.

PregoWell; just like my favorite Italian sauce - we found out on Katina’s birthday that there’s “it’s in there”… in her belly.  Katina is back on the list as “prego”.  So; we’re expecting our third child nine months from now!  WOW!!!!!  I was just trying to survive Leeanne and now there’s another one on the way.

I had a certain peace about it.. you know, “peace that passes all understanding.”  The funny thing is Cameal is prego too so we now have two pregnant women in the house!  It’s going to be a bumpy ride!

Morning Routine

Confusion

Thoughts are still in progress…

Since I hit my “twenties” I have been getting slower, lazier, and more tired. That’s not how it’s supposed to be. I kept hearing from anyone that I would be at my physical peak during my twenties. Well, I’m 28 now and I have not felt my “peak” since I was in high school.

I’ve recognized that while in high school I had some sort of routine to follow that would include physical exercise almost daily. I’ve certainly lost that routine since I’ve graduated college and started working for my life. I used to play basketball and lift weights, but I used to do it with friends (not on my own).

Train Ride for Alex

January 6th, 2008 by Marc F.

Breeze CardOverall; we had a good time - we took our car to College Park, because they have free parking, and bought a temporary pass for Katina. Since I take the train on a regular I have my permanent card. We all got through the gates and took the elevator down to train level. It took about 5 minutes before the train got there. Alex stepped into the train and took a seat. His eyes were light up and he looked every where. Not really smiling but taking it ALL in. Leeanne thought nothing of it and just sat in her stroller trying to hold Alex’s hand, but Alex did not want to be disturbed while he rode the train.

Train Ride for Alex, Prelude

January 5th, 2008 by Marc F.

MARTAHey All,

Today, Katina and I plan on taking Alex on a train (MARTA). Every time Katina picks me up from the airport he carries on about the train. So; we thought today would be good to finally get him on the train. He’s taking a nap now and we’ll see how it goes when he gets up. I’ll try and Twitter the events while I’m out.

Replaced My R40 Keyboard

January 4th, 2008 by Marc F.

IBM Thinkpad R40Hey gang,

I got the R40 keyboard I ordered on eBay. I was very excited about it and I’m writing this blog with the new French Canadian keyboard model. It’s a little tough to type because the left shift key is very small and some of the characters are not in the same place. I think that’s because the French have more characters to play with. Once I switch the language of the OS to French, maybe it’ll match up. But overall; not a bad deal. I’ve been ad-hocking stuff for a long time now - it kind of makes me feel like a futuristic pirate or something. So; having this keyboard for only $25 is no problems with me.
