Job Offer

April 18th, 2008 by Marc F.

While at work today I got a call, on my cell, from a job agency.  She spoke with me in the past when I was looking for work and she periodically checks up on me to see if I’m looking for work.  She told me of a position that was available, but I kindly told her that I’m still employed by the same company and they renewed my contractor for another year.

With her extensive sales training, she then asked me what she could offer to get me to leave my current job.  I replied, “Well… ironically more money and less responsibility.”  We fleshed it out a bit, but what I meant was certainly more money, but to assign my job duties to a single category and not “manager” and “web developer” and “consultant”.  In the end I told her I don’t want to waste any more of her time because I am happy where I am.  And in deed, I am happy where I am - it’s tough wearing so many hats, but the people are nice, the perks are nice, and they my time is very flexible - you can’t beat it!

My Own Site

February 9th, 2008 by Marc F.

Greedy little girl!

Hey folks, I’ve finally made a decision about FergyTech .com and .net. This .com site will be my personal test lab for all the cool web technologies I want to play with and since .net is well established as the family site. I’ll do an upgrade of Joomla to 1.5 (they’ve made a ton of improve ments) and this site will probably house Wordpress and whatever else I find.

So; yet another site to blog to and/or desert in my epic-travel of becoming the perfect husband/father.

Hello world!

World MapWelcome to FergyTech.NET 3.0, which is really FergyTech.COM 1.0. Confused!?! So am I, Ha-ha. The story behind this is I forgot to renew the domain name www.fergytech.net. It expired in September 2007l; normally the domain registrar gives you a 30-day grace period to renew the domain name. I totally forgot about it, and all of a sudden, the domain was gone from my list of manageable domains. So; I’m trying to get them to give me access; but in the mean time I’m using this domain. The problem is Mario and I (marc) use fergytech.net for ALL our personal emails. So; we’ll see how this works.

For those that might not be aware of the technology used behind this site; I’m using WordPress. Which is totally different from my last content management system. So; I’ll have to redo the usernames/passwords. To be honest; I’m a starting to live in the land of reality and I may not restore everyone’s username. Not a lot of folks did use the site; I know Kristin kept it real, but for the most - it was ME adding content to the site. So; the web site will be changing/evolving again into something more practical than the utopia I had in my mind.
