Fedora 10 - Splash Screen (top)
Wow, I have been totally blown away today with what i’ve learned from my good friend Mr. Linux, my nickname for him is Fedora. Basically; I was having a problem installing the latest release of Fedora 10 through the DVDs I burned (32 and 64 bit). I thought all was lost, I literally thought that I would miss out on Fedora 10 and catch up with it next time on Fedora 11. Thanks to the good folks in the #fedora IRC chatroom (shout out to elfstone) – he gave me the idea and provided the path to do my first internet install of an operating system. “Oh Fedora, how I love thee!”

Open Source Pony Tail

Steve Gillmor interviews another fake Jonathan Schwartz (CEO and President of Sun Microsystems). The video was produced by 1938 Media.
I heard about this video from an interview on episode 274 of The Linux Link Tech Show with the current project manager for the Fedora Project. I don’t know what to make of it. Maybe if I kept up with the linux/political/business trends this video might have been hilarious! For those NOT in the know, it’s pretty dry, geeky, humor… “I’ll buy that for a dollar!”
Kill Then Reanimate Your GNOME Panel
Dec 1st

I’ve run into this issue from time to time and I would normally have to reboot. So; one day I said, “No more! This is LINUX and I should be able to work around it.” Oh!? What issue am I talking about? When your GNOME panel gets stuck and there’s nothing you can do about it! I’m going to show you how to kill your gnome-panel process and then restart it. Note that it’s only a temporary solution – I know there’s a better way, but this will do for the time being.
Proprietary Setup in Linux
Nov 26th

What does my blog title mean!? How can the awesome GNU/LINUX be associated with that dirty dirty word, “proprietary”!? Well you’ve heard the terms “cutting edge” and “early adopters” before – it usually means having the latest and greatest, but knowing that it’s not perfect. I experienced that recently and the experience was a bit sobering. My adventure involves two of the most major components of the Internet! Well the two most important components for viewing the Internet – Firefox and Flash Player.
