Google Chrome vs Chromium
Jan 2nd

The other day I had a problem with the Chromium repo a fellow Fedora user maintains. I couldn’t get Flash to work after his latest update. Someone on the forum told me that Google has a beta release of Chrome. So; I removed the “chromium” repo I had previously installed and after installing the new one, I got confused. I thought to myself, “What is the difference between Google Chrome and Chromium?” I thought Chromium would be exclusive to Linux.
Well; I Googl’d it and found this wiki. I thought I’d attempt to give it some traction since others must have the same question.

Linux Outlaws – The Year 2009 in Review
Dec 31st

I’m on and off with listening to Linux Outlaws, but their last podcast for the year 2009 went out in style. All other podcasts are doing a roundup of 2009, but for the most part, I feel that folks are half-assin’ it. These guys did it big by highlighting significant events in the world of Free and Open Source Software. The coolest thing, which has me writing this blog post, is the parities of their favorite podcasts. It starts out like something happened to the show (with some radio distortion) and then a bizaro FLOSS Weekly or The Linux Link Tech Show would play, with Dan and Fabian acting as the hosts. I LMAO’d on the train, headed to work, it was good stuff.
To Handle or Not to Handle
Dec 16th

As I grow into my adult clothes, I some times find it a little embarrassing to introduce myself as the all mighty and feared “FergatROn” hailing from the great planet of Cybertron. Well, it really depends on what circle I’m doing it with. Since the dawn of my online adventures, I’ve always had a cool user handle. Don’t get me wrong, I love my /nick, but I’m doing more and more online business nowadays and telling a possible business partner that my Twitter or Identica account is “@FergatROn” is starting to get a little awkward.

ATI Ain’t Got Nothin’ on Me!
Dec 14th

About two plus weeks ago my nVidia GeForce 8600 GT video card died on me. It was a sad sad day in Fergyville. The mayor of town gave a heart-filled eulogy and instructed all residences to put their flags at half mast. I found a spare video card and saw it had a VGA port. So; I then ordered a DVI (f) to VGA (m) adapter from Cables for Less and waited another couple days for it to arrive. When it finally arrived, low and behold my spare video card was actually an AGP card and my motherboard only has PCI Express slots. I went spiraling down into a very deep depression (for about 2 minutes). I’ve been without my Linux partition for roughly two weeks and it was driving me insane.

Whatcha’ Say!?
