I Can’t Come Out to Play

I wanted to make it known to the world, that I have officially given in to the “World of Responsibility” and no longer into the World of Warcraft. 
Yes, sad to say – my three young kids (ages 3, 2, and newborn), wife, full-time job, and Internet consulting business has caught up with me – backing me into a corner and yelling into my face saying, “WE TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER VIDEO GAMES AND YOU WILL NO LONGER RUN YOURSELF INTO THE GROUND TO PLAY!” This is the milestone in my life when I have completely converted from a hardcore video game player to a casual gamer (aka Old Man).

I wonder if the cut n’ dry world of Microsoft or the stylish enthusiasts of MacWorld could make me feel the way I feel right now. I’m having such a great time with Linux, learning all kinds of new commands and functions, etc. True; it has its limitations, but the advancements that we have has been produced by majority of volunteers who have a love for open source. I joined the ranks of the Fedora project and I’m slowly getting more acclimated to working with a community… I’m so used to doing things by myself and this group has allowed me to be apart of something greater.

Oh my friggin’ Hare Krishna! I’m in the 3rd day of my 14-day trial with Stars Wars Galaxy (SWG) and I just saw some footage of the new Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG from BioWare and LucasArts. I’m a Star Wars fanatic (with certain restraints, of course) and this new MMO looks like it will be the next biggest SCI-FI game to come. SWG looks way outdated and the only reason why I’m playing is to get my “fix” of the Star Wars universe. I normally play World of Warcraft, but if I can only (responsibily) pay for one MMO per month, it will certainly be SWTOR.

It’s not a very good title, but that’s how I feel right now. I had a situation at work that really pissed me off. I found myself getting way bent out of shape about it. I can’t write all the details, but I can share a couple things. I’m a web manager at my Center and I have to deal with constant web-related requests. Upload this to the live server, fix this issue, fix my mistake, what goes where, put my high-level task in front of all your other tasks, etc. The latest scenario is something that I haven’t dealt with before.
