I was sorely disappointed with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra when it first released. I said to myself, “If they ever make G.I. Joe movie, it BETTER be good.” I wanted to slit my wrist the day I witness that movie [don't worry, I didn't]. Skimming Google Trends I saw “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and clicked on it. To my surprise this movie trailer is pretty good. I really loved the music, the costumes look revamped, and the action scenes look pretty decent. Then again; it is a movie trailer… I’m a little liery of Bruce Willis, but whatever man. I’ll give this movie another chance — one last chance!

Well; not really kick start, but keep it going. The e-book series titled Fergyville is on its third installment. Support my wife’s project as she budgets for a kick-ass editor for this well-received series. You can find out more on the kickstarter web site.

A couple friends of mine introduced me to this video from Connor Anderson and Aaron Mull on YouTube. Since I’m a Dungeons & Dragons fan, I instantly loved this music video. It’s a parody song based on “Like a G6” by Far East Movement. I was surprised by how good the larping costumes were. Great Indy film.

Wow!!! I’m blown away with this EPIC BATTLE RAPS OF HISTORY series. I love the beats and these guys have some solid lyrics. These videos can be found on Nice Peter’s YouTube Channel. He’s collaborating with Lloyd Ahlquist and many others to bring these rap battles to life. I stumbled upon Peter, I think from Kassem G, and immediately subscribed to his channel. It has pretty cool music and good entertainment.

My Vote

Everyone has their own opinion, but here are my thoughts on the battles. I thought Bill O’Reilly had a solid run the entire track, Adolph started out strong, but Vader showed him who has the Force, and Abe started strong, but we all know who the master is… it’s the Chuck! I didn’t even pay attention to what Lady Gaga said, Lisa Nova is too sweet on the eyes. Hulk Hogan had a good run, but the mystery guest simply killed it! I won’t give away the surprise. Justin was week, Beethoven ushered him right out of the battle!

I saw on Nice Peter’s latest installment of Epic Rap Battles of History that he’s taking suggestions via Twitter. So; send him all your deranged combinations of history’s well known figures to battle against one another. It’s probably not a real movie, but I love it. I would certainly spent my money to support a movie like this. It’s in a different language so make sure you can read the captions.

How to Get Started

I still haven’t started so you can take this with a grain of salt, but from my observations it looks like you don’t really need much. The guys on the podcast seem to be using dice (4, 6, 12, 20-sided stuff), player’s manual, monster’s manual, a sheet of paper to mark the character’s location, and little figurines from their own collection… like old toys. I think the KEY is whomever you choose to be the dungeon master (DM). The DM seems to really keep the game going from one adventure to the next and keeps everyone in line with his/her knowledge of the monsters, races, classes, environments, weapons, spells, etc.

So; really it looks like KNOWLEDGE is the only real tool a player needs to participate in D&D. Get the players manual and create a character. Find a local hobby shop or join a meetup group in your area.

My scenario might be a little different because of my existing responsibilities (wife, kids, work, etc), but I’ll keep you posted. I’m really excited about finally getting to understand this game. The PODCAST is the biggest help to me right now. I put some useful links below.

I haven’t kept up with E3, but I do listen to the EUCast at SoloSound.net.  I heard their interview with Matt Higby of Sony Online Entertainment for a FREE MMO coming out this fall.  It looks like something I can really get into with my kids. Now I just need to find them a computer besides my personal desktop. It’s not The Old Republic, but I guess it will have to do. Keep feedin’ the fanatics!

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself when these two groups finally release their latest albums. They are killing me with their excerpts and covers on YouTube. Here’s another great rendition of a song by Lady Antebellum. Oh; the name of the groups are: Lucas Teague and ILLumeci.

A co-worker informed me of this very cool service. He basically worded it as “Twitter meets Foursquare.” I would add “Google Maps” to the mix.
